Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

The front 3 are the most important

The ratioanle is to have them all timbre matched so a set from a single maunfacturer will all "sound the same" so your pans side to side and front to back will be seamless and you won't hear the change from speaker to speaker. Bottom line is the room is going to determine how they sound even if they are matched. At least in the midbass and lower midrange. I would really be concerned with LCR. That's where most of the action is. If you are really happy with your current mains and they will do well with HT try to find a center that "matches" them. What are you doing for a sub?? If your mains are full rangers you still might want to consider a dedicated LFE sub. Depends on how low they go and efficiency/power handling.
