Puccini

You're right, the Puccini is a very nice amp. I was somewhat concerned the Puccini (40 Watts) would not have enough power to drive the SB3s. NHT claims the SB3s are 86dB efficient, but Stereophile measured them at 82.5dB (!) efficient. However, it turned out not to be a problem. I listen to music mostly with the volume knob at the 10 o'clock position, which is moderately loud. With the volume knob at the 11 o'clock position, the music is loud as I normally care to listen (about 85dB). What's amazing to me is the power of the bass with the Puccini/SB3 combination. The bass is not boomy or mushy, but tight, controlled and punchy -- which adds a very nice foundation to the music. I would like to have more power for the few times I'd really like to crank it, but I'm not sure I could find a higher-power amp as pleasing as the Puccini for anything near a reasonable cost.
