Richard-The Electa Amator II went into production in 1997, almost 10 years to the date after the original Electa Amator. The Auditor is not a replacement for the Electa Amator II, but part of the Cremona series, with different designs goals, and in the case of the Auditor, a lower price than Electa Amator II.
The decision really comes down to a vision that Franco Serblin has of using the lute shape cabinet in designs other than the two Homage speakers, Amati and Guarneri. Secondly, he was wanted to create a series of speakers dedicated to the town of Cremona, which has been the source of much of his inspiration. As a small loudspeaker company, there is simply not the production capacity for Signum, EAII and the Cremona series.
I'd be happy to answer any other questions that you might have.
Good Listening,
