Muse (along with Porcupine Tree) is one of the absolute BEST new bands to emerge in past several years. Both bands have a truly unique "sound" and are able to incorporate everything good about 70's Prog while simultaneously avoiding most of the excesses (although as a die-hard Prog fan, I LOVE the excesses-"Tales From Topographic Oceans" is BRILLIANT!) and at the same time sound "new". I truly believe these two bands have "what it takes" to remain relevant long into the future, and will be discussed in forums like this 20 years from now the same way we now discuss the "classic" acts of the 60's-70's.

To all of you out there who lament the lack of any "interesting" new music (within the "Rock" category), I would recommend you immediately give both these bands a listen. It may ultimately not be your "cup of tea" but it WILL lift your spirit just knowing that there ARE still some amazingly creative musicians out there (we just have to look a little harder to find them in this age of "Pop/American Idol" etc.)
