Back in the late 60's "Gris, gris gumbo ya ya"... used to start the evening of (you could only call it "underground") programming at WVON in Chicago (studio actually in Cicero, I think) when they changed from their daytime foreign language (Polish, I think) format. From that distinctive opening sax figure and haunting voice they would segue into long tracks like "Inna Gada Da Vida", The Mothers "Freakout", Qicksilvers "Who Do You Love", etc. Here's a pic from The Aragon ballroom.
