Unfortunately, at least where stereo is concerned, the DVD-A of Brain Salad Surgery sucks major pond water. When I wrote a scathing buyer's review of this release and submitted it in the form of a query to the High Fidelity Review site the engineer was contacted and responded directly, admitting, somewhat sheepishly, that this release was indeed a fold down.He did apologize, saying that the mislabeling failure was a Marketing error and that the decision not to do a high-rez version of the original stereo mixes was a time related issue as they didn't have ready access to the original stereo master tapes, but I found this excuse lacking, especially for an important title that they were hoping to use to push the new format. It also told me that the DVD-A format was heavily being pushed to surround format folks only, and that as far as the format's promoters were concerned stereo listeners (audiophiles) could go take a hike.
