That Palmmer was signed with. I purchased Power Station tickets for a performance at Merriwether Post Pavilion (yes!!) and being totally stoked that I'd get to see such a fabulous lineup!
Well, come showtime they cue the music and dim the lights. My anticipation is "palpable", to steal an audiophile phrase. And, sure enough, there are the Taylor boyz, fixin' to shred. And then out to the main mic walks some curly-headed dude who looks nothing like Robert Palmer. WTF??! And then he opens heis mouth and begins to "sing".
Bogus!! Who *is* this imposter? He sounds nothing like the legendary RP. WTF?!! Man, I was *pissed*!! The asshole record company had decided that RP would not be allowed to sing on this tour. 'Course, this minor fact was never published in advance of the show. They sold me a bill of goods, those bastids!!
I suffered thru the show, but I was SOOOO disappointed. So much so that I have no problem downloading everything I ever wanted - FOR FREE - off the internet....
