Bat Chain Puller finally released by the Zappa Family Trust, if you are a Beefheart fan this is a must have. I know we have heard most of these songs already on Shiny Beast and Doc at the Radar station but you haven't heard them like this it is like listening to a new Beefheart album. As much as I liked Shiny Beast and Doc this album is more cohesive with a better band, Don's voice sounds much better more like Spotlight Kid; Denny Wally is a monster on slide guitar with John French as musical director. It really is a travesty this album was not released in 1975. You can buy it @ zappa.com, don't let the simple cover fool you it has a 14 page book inside with photos, art work and heart felt stories from John French, Denny Wally and Gail Zappa. Re-mastered by Bob Ludwig to 24K, 48Bwav it sounds a little juiced but still it's very well mastered. The real jewel is an improvised blues between Don and Denny Wally recorded on cassette and transferred to 2" at the BCP session and added here as a bonus track. After you hear this you will want to take your copy of Dust Sucker and use it for skeet practice.
