I lost interest too...especially after "Tunnel of Love"...how's that for stretching it! It's that, and a combination of the stasis of his career after his marriage to Patti..then the Baby. I'm sure he lost of lot of the previous generation of fans, due to this.The acoustic "hits" tour did me in...all of those multi-issue "live" 3Cd sets, with the same song listirg and the "same sound". I know I wasn't alone after that tour. I picked up the video anthology DVD, but NOT the live at MSG set. I just can't get excited about his "American Skin" song, and the patriotic revival, post 9-11.
To me, that he waited too long between "Tunnel of Love" album for a legitimate release, was inexcusable...he just lost momentum, with me, with "Tom Joad"...the excitement was gone.
I still play those pivotal live concerts, alot...but it's hard to recapture my interest in any new release.
In light of all the other Big Failures by established stars, I'm not expecting this one to burn up the charts too !
