I guess if people think Let It Be is a great album (or song for that matter) the Beatles will remain untouchable. The album, IMO, wasn't very good and the song really sucks. Sure I think production values were the biggest contribution the Beatles made to the recording industry, this is not to slight the greatness of their songwritting abilities which was tremendous and their greatest strength.As good as the Beatles were I don't really think they were as influencial to rock music as either the Who or the Velvet Underground and I believe Led Zeppelin's studio output is equally consistently good in comparison with the Beatles catalog.
Untouchable? No one will ever be like them. Overrated? Hell Yes!
