Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

But what's the point?

There is NOTHING that can be done about the way these sessions were recorded and mastered (talking about original LPs here). Sure, it would be nice if the hot sizzling treble on most of the early sessions were toned down a bit and I agree that pianos sound distorted much of the time--totally disagree about the bass comments--I think Van Gelder generally got that right. And the tenor sax? I think he did a TERRIFIC job there! The hard left/right Stereo comment doesn't really matter to me, as almost all of my Blue Notes and Prestiges are mono.

Do I think others (particularly DuNann at Contemporary) did a better job? Sure. So what. Why bother bagging on RVG? He was there, did the best he could and I'm grateful.
