Patricia Barber performance in Annapolis

My Wife and friends had the pleasure of being in the audience to see Patricia Barber perform last Sunday nite. She and her trio had performed a "Women in Jazz" series at the Kennedy Center the night before.
What a terrific venue, and what a awesome show Ms Barber delivered at the Rams Head Tarvarn in Annapolis. Her bassist Michael Arnapol, and guitarist are extraordinarly competant musicians, offering up a tight and rythmically dynamic range that we were messmerized by. Ms Barber did not disappoint,,,, her animated gestures and complex piano passages were breathtaking. Her vocals, as pure and piercing, sophisticated, dark, poetic, sartirically profound, as heard on her recordings. The first set lasted just over an hour,,, a half hour intermission brought her back for a second set and an encore. Only two familiar tunes were recognized, I suppose the remainder of the songs will make it to her new CD "Verse" to be released this Summer. One of the most enjoyable live performances I've ever witnessed, put Ms Barber on your "must see" list if she graces a stage near you.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Bob C., a "Inmate" and his lovely Wife Liv at the performance.

Jack
