Sometimes timing is everything.
Although she's released a few excellent CDs over the past few years, her recent "Ballads, Remembering John Coltrane" CD has rightfully been creating a stir among appreciative fans of jazz vocals. It seems like Karrin Allyson may be poised to become another big name jazz act ala Diana Krall (who I was fortunate enough to catch at Birdland on Valentine's Day a few years back, just before her popularity soared) The time may be right to catch Ms Allyson at a small club while it's still possible. Well, lucky for NYC jazz fans - she's coming to Birdland for a couple of dates in late Sept. I've already got my reservations, otherwise I wouldn't even mention it. Jump on this before word spreads!!
