I saw the Mingus Big Band last weekend in Oakland. It was maybe the best jazz I've heard in a year or two! It was great to hear the power of a big band, adventurous solos, driving bass, and songs that make you want to stomp your feet and holler. Lots of fun - too bad all the shows were sold out, I'd have like to seen a couple more sets.
