Whilst I've no particular interest in these (having bought Decca's autumn 'subscription' sets (1970-2: Beethoven/Dvorak/Sibelius) as a teen; one aspect that moderately interests me is whether the 24-bit format also reveals a qualitative superiority for the pre-Dolby issues (Dvorak7/8, Sibelius1/2) because, on LP, I always found Decca's 'smeared' Dolby-ized material to be verging on the unacceptable: - that system seemingly bringing-up acoustic information and 'gluing' the orchestra into that sound (or v-v) - whereas, particularly Dvorak 8 (SXL original - have all the above as various SXL's), one hears an orchestra playing/expanding within a defineable acoustic space. Indeed, this aspect was remarked-on by a HiFiNews/RR reviewer at the time of the Dvorak box (1971) - referring to Decca's 'zinc-tank acoustic' (ie: compared to Philips/Rowicki).
Possibly a mite too sophisticated as a query, here...??
