It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Your most memorable concerts?

There's a thread going on right now on Google Groups (RMCR) wherein folks are listing the most memorable (or awe-inspiring or whatever) concerts they've actually attended, and I thought that might be a fun topic for the inmates here too. I don't think any list needs to be confined to a certain number of selections, and I of course realize that we're not really remembering the actual details of concerts from, in some cases, 50 years ago. (I guess in those cases, what we're remembering is how intense our reactions - emotional or otherwise - really were.) Here are some concerts I've attended that made a YUGE impression on me:

I see there's quite a bit on this list already, and I haven't even gotten to the 90's or the 2000's (with all the great babe musician concerts I attended!). So I'm going to leave it for now. BTW, it's interesting that I have so many items from the 60's - probably because I was discovering this music for the first time and that always tends to make a bigger impression, all other things being equal.

*This concert was especially noteworthy for how Ameling inspired the Stanford Chamber Orchestra - made up entirely of students - to play way beyond their usual slovenly level of accomplishment. They actually sounded really good! In addition, there was an excellent oboist in the orchestra at that time (I think his name was Bill Benjamin?), and he played the oboe solos in Cantata 202 just wonderfully. Ameling herself always seemed to give the impression of surprise at how rapturously she was received in her appearances at Stanford during these years, including her first recital at Dinkelspiel which she gave some years earlier when she was not all that well known.
