RE: That Sibelius recording seems to be available for download at the Presto Classical site

Thanks Chris but Presto's site says " Sorry, download not available in your country " .

That is interesting as it seems that this UK retailer clearly has repertoire that is only available to non- UK customers. I don't even get to see a price.

Yes I think that extra 8 bits does make a difference. However my inate scepticism leads me to believe that it is not completely down to additonal information but that 24 bit processors are better working with a 24 bit word as they do not have to do additional processing as in the case of shorter word lengths. If that is so it doesn't really matter much if the 8 bits contain data or are upsamples i.e. 8 extra digital zeros. I can ,and do, synthesise that additional 8 zeros for all of my listening with audibly benefical results. After all no one really needs or can even use a 144dB dynamic range.
