eClassical is having its annual promotion of 24-bit albums starting today. The offerings change each day (four albums per day), and they all are supposed to be on sale for 50% off. They're also offering other labels besides BIS, such as Harmonia Mundi and Pentatone. I'm in the process right now of downloading one of their offerings from today: Litton's Mendelssohn Symphonies 3 and 5 with the Bergen Phil. The sampling rate of this particular recording is 44.1 (i.e., CD sampling rate), but it's a 24-bit recording in multi-channel (or regular stereo if you want) for 7 dollars and change - a very attractive price indeed. . . especially considering that, for whatever reason, this album, in its SACD format, is shown for a price of $54.79 today on Amazon!
