Is country music safe to listen to?

Just wondering: I am getting a little fascination with country music, but when those singers twang (or whatever you call it when they modulate the pitch the way they do), I wonder whether it is healthy to subject oneself to this type of music? Does it dumb you down and make you into a Republican (you know, the southern type)?

I have to admit, they seem to have a lot of talented singers, especially the females.
