The Jarvi on Chandos? I cannot hear the clock chimes at midnight without thinking " Avon Calling". Not my favourite peformance/recording by a long way. I cannot understand why it garnered such positive reviews. Positive enough to charm the cost of it out of my wallet though.
I will certainly go for the new Gergiev/Mariinsky. I love the earlier Philips one and I also saw them last month in an all Prokoviev bill. Hugely impressive. A Russian band in Russian repertoire. Something special there.
