Sharon Kam is a big name clarinet soloist, and is using the period-correct basset clarinet for Mozart, as does Sabine Meyer. The basset clarinet was favored by Anton Stadler, for whom Mozart wrote the clarinet concerto, but never really caught on after Mozart's day. It's longer, and extends lower, than the standard clarinet. I like the sound both of them get with it in the Mozart concerto. But Ms. Kam is definitely a modern-style clarinetist, and I don't think you'll see Todd Kreiger shouting "Eureka!"
