Sometimes you'll also see "gaita" (the style) called "cumbia". Not sure how the Spanish bagpipes name was co-opted to describe this music. Took me a while to figure out the Flintstones thing...."picapiedras" comes back as untranslatable in online translation engines unless you capitalize the "P", then it translates as "Flintstones". I still don't understand the constant Christmas references found on many of these records. There are websites dedicated to this music, but they're all in Spanish. I've managed to learn from them, but not enough to understand this particular nuance.
