This recording from 1965 is exceptional. The sound quality of my London ffrr LP is top notch. Full sound from top to bottom with extraordinary dynamics. If your system has a good tonal balance, then this LP will sing silky high end notes with great attack. The Berg score is really leading edge and quite unsettling. But in a good way, unsettling. The aggressive playing by the Weller SQ keeps the listener on his/her toes and fully engaged. Fortunately, the tonal balance of this LP is just right and to my ears, this LP represents one of the nearest "live" or "in your room" renditions that I have heard. My system has never sounded so good and music really appears to be coming from within the room, rather than a hi-fi sound.
Highly recommended.
That said, please identify any LPs for string quartet (preferably 20th century) that have great sound quality. Let's hear from all our classical LP fanatics. Both mono and stereo.
