I'd still much rather listen to it (the Glazunov Concerto) than I would any number of certifiably GREAT pieces. (BTW, how can we get in touch with that committee which confers GREATNESS on a given piece?)
In any case, no one is telling you what you have to read and write. We all have our foibles, and perhaps you'll be so good as to put up with mine. ;-) I suspect that Vanessa's new recording will garner some excellent reviews in any case, despite whatever I've said about it.
Also, you've been strangely silent about the Stockhausen tracks on this new release (which take over a quarter of the total time): after all, Vanessa bears the same relationship to Stockhausen that Milstein did to Glazunov, in the sense that both composers seem to have approved of the renditions of their younger performing colleagues. Ah!. . . what I wouldn't give to hear that performance of the young Milstein with Glazunov conducting! And yet, faced with a very similar situation with Vanessa performing the music of Stockhausen, some of us dismiss her performances out of hand - because she's too much of a babe, or we don't like the dress she's wearing, or we don't like the expression on her face? Oh dear!
