I suppose I could start on a rant:
Yet another recording of the Glazunov violin concerto, that even Nathan Milstein, who played it under Glazunov's baton back when he was a young sensation and much later recorded it brilliantly, correctly (imo) said was not that great a piece?
Am I really supposed to read and write lengthy reviews of recordings by the latest young sensations of the Glazunov, the Brahms, the Tchaik 1st, the Rach 3rd, the Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Bartok concertos, the Chopin ballades, and the other predictable warhorse repertoire choices, even when they aren't that good?
Maybe bluemooze is right to ask what I'm doing here. I don't mind the Man Rayesque nude, though, so at least he won't call me a loser old man from a monastery.
