By coincidence I played The 1951 Mahler 2nd with Klemperer conducting the CONCERTGEBOUW with Ferrier singing. Powerful, Rarely is voiced matched so perfectly with the performance. Indeed very overwhelming, with a theatrical and operatic fast pace Klemperer Mahler 2nd. Hardly the same conductor of the 70's.
