In answer to your question, Strauss's Munchen (sorry for the missing umlaut!) is a piece d'occasion (sorry for the missing accent grave!) written, as you might imagine, for the city of Munich. Munich returned the favor by naming one of the city streets, "Richard-Strauss-Straße", and everybody was happy! ;-)
