Interesting that almost no one here mentioned his recordings of the Brahms symphonies. These are the ones considered definitive by a great many musicians, as far as how they are played by the orchestra, anyway. I personally think they are perhaps that orchestra's best work. That Beethoven 7 someone mentioned is quite good, too.
The other one that is often considered definitive that I don't think anyone mentioned is the recording of Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream, which was coupled with a fantastic performance of the Italian symphony as well. In fact, this might be my personal favorite Szell recording, even more than the Brahms symphonies.
