I cannot speak directly of the RVW/Marriner disc but I have a few original Argo vinyl discs, some CDs from the Decca ADRM digitisation programme and some more recent remasters of them.Although the remasters can (can) sound preferable to the ADRMs, if you like the "magic" of the vinyls this is not recaptured.
I was privileged to visit the Decca West Hapstead studios during the period of the ADRM releases. The engineeers were proud of these compared to the LPs as they represented a straight 1:1 transfer from the digitised master whereas the vinyl cut required the use of further EQ and thus was not a duplicate of the master recording. So. although havimg logic, this demonstrated that recording engineers are often not audiophiles and may have a different system of values.
Many Argos have recent remasterings on the Australian Decca "Eloquence" series if you can get these as imports.
