She has deep-pocketed financial backers and/or good fund-raising connections. It costs a fair amount of amount of money to make an orchestral recording, even with the Sao Paulo Symphony. And trust me, almost none of that money came from Naxos. More than likely, nearly all of it came from Alsop -- her wealthy backers, that is.Those wealthy backers are also the reason she remains the music director of the Baltimore Symphony, though many of its players (allegedly!) do not respect her, and performances and recordings under her direction are often less than stellar in the opinions of some.
