The first instrument to appear in Also sprach Zarathustra is not the trumpet. Before the trumpet even plays, there are four measures of pedal tone played by the contra-bassoons, the double basses, and the organ, together with a bass drum tremolo - with the organ playing piano and the other instruments playing pianissimo. Maybe the folks who devise the Jeopardy clues are vinyl junkies and they couldn't hear these first four measures because of the rumble and surface noise! ;-)Just kidding! - You know I love vinyl! ;-)
Or, as you say, they could have heard the piece on an AM car radio while driving! Lulz in any case!
