The Three Scenes from Petrouchka vie with Gaspard de la nuit (and a couple of other pieces I suppose) for being the most technically difficult piano solo in the standard repertoire. For that aspect alone, it's very interesting to me to hear how different pianists succeed or fail at the challenge. (And IMHO, most fail!) And you can't deny that you're hearing some details in the piano versions that you don't hear in the orchestral versions. Overall, I think the piano versions are certainly interesting for a change of pace - of course, I'm a pianist, so I'm biased. ;-)
