NRP featured a segment about the Music & Arts reissues of the complete Schneider Qrt recordings of Haydn. It was a more in-depth look than is usual. Even a few more extended samples were played. I don't even like Haydn that much, but I was drawn in. The reviewer, Lloyd Schwartz, said that the Schneider performances were ideal. All of the others missed subtlies, were either too aggressive or too wimpy, and missed the big picture feeling.
Does anyone have any thoughts on that? Any favorites?
