I think that the hit or miss with Decca's has more to do with how early a version of the recording you've gotten. The earlier editions (the "Blue Backs & the early edition SXLs) were consistently spacious sounding w/good bass extension .The later SXLs (similar to what happen to the later EMI pressings) really surrendered much of the recorded SQ.

They must have taken greater care when they remastered the material for"The Decca Sound" box set (which Id ripped to HDD & listen to through a Metrum Hex DAC) that absolutely reminds me of listening to the "Bluebacks",but I keep wondering where the "groove noise" is.
