I'm sure we've done this before - heck, I might have even been the OP on this topic. But things change, and new material comes to the fore.....so....
Tomorrow is one of the US's great holidays. I can't decide if Thanksgiving or Independence Day is the Great American Holiday - but I love Thanksgiving, and I dislike it being subsumed by Christmas. I am generally libertarian - but when Black Friday encroaches on Thanksgiving, which was meant to be a day set aside for families to celebrate, I say that enough is enough, and a statute is required to allow families to have family time.
OK, getting off my soapbox - what is great Thanksgiving music?
I can think of 3 pieces that work for me: Copland's Appalachian Spring (well, it is Fall now, but the music works for me), Beethoven's Pastoral symphony, and Beethoven's Op 132 String Quartet. Funny that a German writing music in Austria seems to work for this American holiday, but there you go.
