I agree with all of htat, Chris -- well said.

Of course, I would add that imho there is a reason so many of today's famous pianists are of the "don't rock the boat -- music is a holy art" variety -- that every note can be recorded and almost instantly heard by everyone everywhere, and that encourages a safe, homogenous approach. Even worse, some pianists self-consciously cultivate an unnatural non-don't rock the boat approach that can be even less successful. It sounds like you are criticizing that approach when you talk about "Bang Bang", and you do have a point.
