I love Szell's way with Haydn. I remember when these were first being released; unfortunately Szell died before he could complete the entire set of the London symphonies. I also like Colin Davis' set with the Concertgebouw. Not as fond of the Scherchen's as I thought I might be. Dorati has many high points in his Haydn cycle ( I have the whole thing on LP) but there is just a tad less energy in the London symphonies that in some of the recordings made earlier.
This is great music and the Szell set is dirt cheap.
