It seems to happen that a piece is somewhat neglected, then, as Boris Goldovsky would delight in saying, it gets "glected."
Not my favorite Bartok, I must confess.
But, Western Civ. was headed for a real crackup back then, and the artists knew it.
NB, the photo is from the Opening Night Gala. There aren't any press photos up of the Oct. 3 concert. Which I heard over the internet.
