Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Been enjoying my set for about a week now.

Best so far is the disc titled. "Spartacus" and "Masquerade," works by Khatchaturian. I have other versions but this is far superior. Also very good is the "Carmina Burana" conducted by Antal Dorati.

On the other hand is a real dud featuring Robert Merrill (in poor voice, imo) singing patriotic songs with over the top symphony backup, the type of recording popular in the 1960s. Something similar with Eileen Farrell is a curiosity of sorts, but she's sounds terrific in again, souped up orchestral arrangements, doing mostly Broadway songs.

What I miss is the hokey but irresistible "Pass in Review" the one that got it all started. I don't think it's ever been issued on CD.
