OK!
For all of you (I know that there are at least 75,000 of you, plus John Atkinson) who have been wondering, "Is there possibly anything weird that John Marks can come up with, that is even weirder than Joel Fredericksen's 'Requiem for a Pink Moon'?"
I am SO glad you asked!
How about a young man who grew up influenced by Mexican music, church music, and soul music, so he decided to pen a concept album of soul music dealing with issues, ideas, or catchy phrases from the famous "Confessions" of Saint Augustine.
Here's Sam Rocha's Apologia pro Kickstarter Project Sua:
" 'Late to Love' is an original concept album that performs a reading of Augustine’s 'Confessions' through soul music. It is not a generic ode to a saint or holy person, nor it is a neutral and uncontroversial celebration of an important ancient book. From beginning to end Rocha offers a bold and fresh reading of Augustine’s 'Confessions' where the form is the content, where melody and verse take the place of assertions and argument."
I think that the title track is the best by far, so here it is.
The whole project can be heard free on YT or Band Camp.
