I can't believe it's been 30 years years, since Alphaville came out with that must-have synthpop classic, "Forever Young." Throughout its history, "Forever Young" just stops listeners dead in their tracks. Hell, those of you who knew me in the mid-90s may have witnessed me playing "Forever Young" at audio stores, shows, and gatherings.
One of my audio friends was staffing a room at the recently-passed New York Audio Show. I'm not going to call out anyone or name names. But s/he had Alphaville's "Forever Young" at the NYAS. However, the manufacturers "didn't allow" her/him to play it. Hell, they didn't even play Rod Stewart's "Forever Young."
Losers. And they wonder why they don't sell. Their system/setup probably would have sounded enchanting, on "Forever Young." If they're not going to play gripping music like this, they are not going to have any customers, and will struggle to grow the business.
But for the rest of us, let us raise a glass, peace sign, and/or lighter, and croon to Alphaville's "Forever Young."
