Thing is that Bassie had just signed a 2-year exclusive contact and Hammond was recording the Bassie Band somewhat under the radar ... there were threats to sue but as Bassie's name was never mentioned in the JSI release there was really nothing that could be done!

Heard part of a Hammond interview where he discusses Jones-Smith, Inc extensively.

And the release is really good, Lester Young who was making waves at the time was on the date
