Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

The studies cited seem to be incomplete or ongoing but I'm satisfied that the liberal arts help us to become more curious, and therefore more interesting, human beings.

Music and the other arts provide the opportunity for a well-rounded education and a multi-dimensional outlook but I'm not sure that this is what corporations are looking for in the workforce right now. I'd say the the liberal arts are as easily overshadowed by the industrial arts as they ever were, probably even more so. Most people are obsessed with the basics of survival, of course. Happiness comes when we've coordinated our lives with the pace of technology, more so than when we keep up with the pace of artistic innovation.

I've met plenty of artists and their administrators during my lifetime, and truth be told, I think I can understand some of the reasons why the liberal arts are viewed with such... skepticism. The mere mention of "liberal arts" can be enough to startle or scare off many people, myself included.
