Most people (me included) didn't expect Ornette to play at all, and I knew he was in decline, so I was very happy to see him express such a positive spirit.

I only heard Charlie Haden twice; at the Ornette retrospective in Battery Park (cut short by park rules and construction noise) in 2000, and a rather dull duet with Kenny Barron here in New Orleans (maybe 10 years ago?) Neither was a great performance (for different reasons,) but he remains one of my favorite musician on the basis of his recordings.
