It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Jazz in 1965

Inspired by thinking and listening to Miles' 2nd quintet in this period, I looked up what else was going on. Look at this:
1965 - Maiden Voyage, H.Hancock
1965 - Speak No Evil, W. Shorter
1965 - ESP, Miles Davis
1965 - A Love Supreme, Coltrane
1965 - Trio 65, Bill Evans
1965 - Fire Music, Archie Shepp
1965 - Into Somethin', Larry Young
1965 - Getz au GoGo
1966 - Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, C.Adderley w. Zawinul (Wurlitzer el-pno)

What do you make of the above? Personally I'd take Freddy Hubbard over Miles any day of the week and twice on Sundays, so the first two give me more sustained pleasure. But look at the rest - A Love Supreme. And Joe Zawinul playing funky Wurlitzer already in 1966. And one of my favourite old LPs - Into Somethin'. And Bossa Nova was up and going.

And for comparison in 1965:
Otis Redding - Otis Blue
Marvin Gaye - How Sweet it is to be Loved by You
James Brown - Papa's Got a Brand New Bag + I Got You
Beatles - Rubber Soul

1966
Frank Zappa - Freak Out
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Beatles - Revolver
