Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

I did my bit when teaching in a country school decades ago

Although a maths and science teacher, I was able to bring along my tape recorder to play classical music at the start of morning school assemblies and had a small group once a week to listen to more music.

Not sure of the long term impact but I found out very recently that this activity has given me the nickname "Tchaik"!!

Obviously I agree with your sentiment tinear but it is an uphill battle to win the minds of the current generation from the mindless thump thump of disco music so they record something different onto their iPods etc.

Sadly it has been many generations since school administrators were classical music fans so the subject has little appeal to either them or most of the parents involved.

What can be more subjective than music? It reflects our personal tastes and preferences.
