Thank you all very much. A good list of recordings to work through that will let me listen to the approaches and style of some of the best, playing very interesting music. It seems appropriate to start with the Segovia. My question was prompted when I heard a story on NPR in the last couple weeks about a mandolin player working in the classical field. They played a solo Bach performance by him. It was very compelling. Unfortunately his CD "Bach" is with orchestra...not what I was after.
