I think the Levine Mahler sounds quite good, but I don't have an earlier version to compare.
Performance-wise, Levine's 10th (Cooke 2) is my favorite of any recording I've heard. (Admittedly, I haven't read this comment from major critics.)
The 4th is often acclaimed as the best in this set, but I don't find it special.
The rest of the symphonies are nothing special, but I was happy to buy the set to get the 10th.
