Somehow the man evaded me for 59+ years. I blame that growing up in S Florida. My first exposure (aside from Famous Blue Raincoat)was watching the documentary "I'm Your Man" on cable. It knocked me off my feet. I cried like a baby, I paused and rewound (DVR), I went to the internet to look up the words that I could not make out, then came back to listen to the song again, and again. Within days I bought it: Rufus Wainwright singing Hallelujah is amazing, but LC singing with Bono near the end is tits!(I'm no Bono fan!). I bought several cover discs, was prepared to go to Boston for the concert, but it was sold out. Needless to say, I am a huge fan.
I bought 'Live in London' as soon as it came out, and I have to tell on first watch/listen I was disappointed. A couple of months went by and I watched it again. I was much more appreciative this time.
I think the reason why I wasn't that crazy on first listen is because I want to hear him speak about his life, as he did on the documentary. Mesmerizing! I know that's not what concerts are about, but I guess if you watch the documentary, you will understand where I am coming from.
