I have all the symphones as well. Somewhat similar to Bax, (see below), but in my mind more interesting. Somewhat like Vaughn-Williams non-pastoral symphonies, perhaps. If you like big, tonal symphonies, (no difficult dissonances here), you would enjoy him. It's the type of music that was virtually blackballed in Britain by the elites, say from 1955 to 1985, as being old fashioned, nonprogressive; in other words, it's listenable and enjoyable. There's another Dutton disc with three of his ballets I have also liked.
